Brazilian actress Eva Wilma dies at 87


Actress Eva Wilma died on Saturday (15) at the age of 87. She was facing ovarian cancer and had been admitted to Hospital Albert Einstein, in the South Zone of São Paulo, since April 15 for the treatment of heart problems arising the tumor.

Eva Wilma Riefle Buckup was born on December 14, 1933 in the city of São Paulo. She started her artistic career at the age of 19, at the Ballet of the IV São Paulo Centenary, but abandoned dance shortly after, when she received invitations to join Teather of Arena and the program “Alô Doçura”, TV Tupi.

The series was aired for ten years, and the actress shared space in the attraction with John Herbert, whom she married in 1955. Eva and John separated in 1976. Together, they had two children, Vivien and John Herbert, known professionally as Johnnie Beat .

Three years after the separation, the actress married actor Carlos Zara, who died in 2002.

In addition to dance and acting, Eva has always been very connected to the arts, taking singing, piano and guitar lessons with Inezita Barroso.

"Stone over stone" (1992), "O King of farm" (1996) and "Start Over" (2004) were other works that had the participation of Eva Wilma.

Her last job for TV was in 2015, in “Secret trues”, in which she played Dona Fábia, an alcoholic, bitter and profiteer, who extorted her son Anthony (Reinaldo Gianechini). Eva was also awarded for the project.

Despite extensive work on TV, Eva never abandoned her career in theater, receiving numerous awards for her work on stage. In “Dear Mommy” (1994), she received Molière, Shell and Sharp trophies.

In 2017, Eva also participated in the show “Crisis, which crisis?”, Idealized by her son. In it, the actress released her voice, resuming what she had already done in the musical “Oh! What a wonderful war ”, in the 1970s.

She was admitted on April 15 this year to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Albert Einstein, when she was admitted to treat heart and kidney problems.

On the 8th of this month, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Before being admitted, she posted a photo on her social networks she appeared rehearsing the text to record the film "As Apariadas".

Tribute

In January 2020, she was the great recipient of the Cesgranrio Theater Award, at the Copacabana Palace, in Rio. And, in the speech of thanks, she spoke about the importance of the actors' work.
